Teahive is a “feel good” cheese. The soothing qualities of tea and the relaxing properties of bergamot combine to produce a lovely cheese with the rich fragrance of orange blossoms in April.
Sweet and creamy, this Jersey cow’s milk cheese immediately delights the palate and the complexities of the tea-rubbed rind continue through the finish.
Vegetarian rennet, cow's milk, all ingredients rubbed on the rind are organic, this is a gluten-friendly product
The idea for Teahive was born on a winding road through Portugal. While on vacation, Pat and Jeanette found themselves surrounded by fragrant citrus groves, their sweet, zesty aroma filling the air. The experience stuck with them—what if they could capture that bright, citrusy essence in a cheese?
When they returned home, Pat shared the idea with Tim, Beehive Cheese’s resident foodie. Immediately, Tim thought of bergamot, a unique citrus that tastes like a cross between a lemon and a lime. Most people know bergamot as the signature flavor in Earl Grey tea—a tea that Tim, a true tea lover, had always adored.
Inspired, they blended fragrant Earl Grey tea into a rub and tested it on their signature cheese. The result was magical—the smooth, creamy cheddar absorbed the floral and citrus notes, creating a cheese that was delicate, aromatic, and utterly unique.
And just like that, Teahive was born—a cheese with roots in a Portuguese citrus grove and the warmth of a well-brewed cup of tea.
This cheese is sooooo good! We love it!
The title says it all. We do one once a month or so and when we do, it starts here and expand with new cheeses. Old faithful.
It’s mild enough to go with most anything but the tea is strong enough to ring through. Good cheese.
My husband and I both just discovered this cheese and we've never tasted any cheese like it! The tea-rub is elegant and citrusy but the mild creamy cheddar cheese is the perfect cheddar. We have a fridge full of it and when we can't get it from Kroger's anymore, we will get it from you. What a brilliant cheese.
My boyfriend and I discovered Teahive as a part of a charcuterie board we ordered at a restaurant in Jacksonville. Ever since then, we have been in love with it. We constantly look for it in stores and always try to request it at our local cheese departments with no luck. Whenever Beehive has a free shipping sale we always order some to keep at the house. It is amazing and we love dipping it in honey and enjoying it with some nice wine. I could literally eat this cheese every day for the rest of my life and I am hoping it becomes as easy to find in stores as some of their other cheeses like Barely Buzzed. If you haven't tried this cheese, DO IT NOW!
My sister (a vegetarian) is quite fond of cheese, so I sent her a gift basket for Thanksgiving. The Teahive is the cheese she liked best, so I sent her some for Christmas. She has very particular (expensive) tastes in cheese, so it must be pretty good.
