In a saucepan over medium heat add oil and red onion. Cook onion until translucent.
Add ginger, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, brown sugar, cinnamon stick, lemon zest and juice and balsamic vinegar. stir until well combined. Turn heat to medium low and simmer until berries are reduced and mixture is thickened. About 20 min.
Add the basil and cook 2 min more. Remove from heat and let cool to room temp before serving. Can be refrigerated for 1 week.
