Apple Walnut Smoked and Caramelized Onion Dip Recipe


  • 2 1/2 cups shredded Apple Walnut Smoked (reserve 1/2 cup) 
  • 1 tbs olive oil 
  • 2 chopped onions 
  • 1 tbs chopped fresh thyme 
  • 1 tsp garlic 
  • 2 tbs maple syrup
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp salt 
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp pepper 
  • 1/4 cup stout beer or other dark beer 
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 
  • 2 8-oz package softened cream cheese 
  • 1 tsp garlic powder 
  • 1 tsp onion powder 
  • 3/4 cup crumbled cooked bacon (reserve 1/4 cup) 


1.  Preheat oven to 375. Over medium low heat add oil in a saute pan add onions, thyme, garlic, maple syrup, salt and pepper. Cook until onions are soft and caramelized (15-20 min). Add beer and cook 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat and let lightly cool.

2.  In a bowl mix cream cheese, onion mixture, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder and bacon. Spread in oven safe dish, sprinkle with remaining cheese and bacon.

3. Bake in oven 25-30 min until browned on top. Serve warm with your favorite pretzels.
