1. Preheat oven to 375. Over medium low heat add oil in a saute pan add onions, thyme, garlic, maple syrup, salt and pepper. Cook until onions are soft and caramelized (15-20 min). Add beer and cook 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat and let lightly cool.
2. In a bowl mix cream cheese, onion mixture, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder and bacon. Spread in oven safe dish, sprinkle with remaining cheese and bacon.
3. Bake in oven 25-30 min until browned on top. Serve warm with your favorite pretzels.
